Hair Love!

So this morning I had to make a quick stop off to target to return a few items, and purchase a couple things as well. I was in line at the register behind a women that had a horrendous haircut. I was a sad attempt at a a-line bob, so bad that pieces were hanging down the back over the graduation, ledges all over the place....just horrible! I remembered that I had my scissors in my purse, usually don't say anything but I was so sad for her having to walk about in such a hott mess! As I waited for her to finish I thought of how I could gently put it to her that her hair looks like shit and I would like to fix it! After she was through with her stuff I said..."Hey, I don't normally do this, I am a hairstylist and I noticed that your hair needed just a bit of love in the back. If you would like I would be happy to do it, I have my scissors with me! We could go to the bathroom or into the parking lot I don't care." She laughed and looked at me rather in shock! "ya, I noticed that it was really bad, I just went to a super cuts or something, brought a picture but they didn't know what they were doing. I guess it cant get any worse, sure lets do it!" So she waited, I payed and out to the parking lot we went and I cut her hair...LOL!! Before I was knee deep in hair a women walked past, made a comment about how funny it was and entered the store. Before I had finished the same women came by again (This time her hair looks a lot better) and asked if I worked in a salon and if she could get a card! She wanted to make sure that I didn't just do hair in parking lots! The women looked so much better when I was done, I was trying to show her the back in the reflection on the car windows but that was rather unsuccessful. Hopefully I might get two clients out of that :)

EXTRA! EXTRA! ReAd aLL AbOuT It!!!

So tonight we did something rather fun! We went to see a independent film called Kabluhey.....playing at the living room theatre! (across from Powell's books) I head about this film from a client of mine who went to school with the guy who wrote, directed and stared in it. She told me a bit about it, said it was really funny and that was about it....so we decided to go. IT WAS GREAT!!!! Kinda a random story but has some great stars in it...including Lisa Kudrow :) It was about this guy who goes to live with his sister-in law while his brother, her husband, is fighting in Iraq. He goes to watch about her two kids who are total hellions. He gets a job with this large company wearing this large blue suit, and handing out flyer's on the side of the road....a farm road in the middle of no where. Anyway, its a great film! Then after it was done the guy who wrote, directed and stared in it came into the theater and talk about the film and answered questions. It was rather interesting to listen to him talk about his experience. Its a must see :)

You tube STAR !

So this boot camp...I know I talk about it a lot....she had a video made to put onto her web site. It was quite horrible showing up one morning last camp, not so bright eyed and bushy tailed to had us taped while we were tortured. Anyway, I am in it quite a bit... I guess they wanted to show that fat girls can do it to! and who needs a double bra and wouldn't mind if they shaved off the extra chin they added in the end....GROUSE!!

Good deed for the year!

So I was talked into doing something yesterday that I must admit I was a little hesitant. The state of Washington puts on an community event every year to assist family's in need with school supplies and what not. Having a sister in law who helps organize this event every year, I was asked if I would be willing to donate my time and do hair cuts on children at this event. FIRST OF ALL!! I really don't LOVE doing hair cuts on kids. I only do a few, mostly over the age of 10, and they few that are younger, I let them know that if they move I will accidentally cut their ear!! Needless to say, I don't love cutting kids hair. Second, it was on a Tuesday which would mean that I would be taking half the day off of work. And lastly, they only had like 6 stylists last year and they did like 100 people...in three hours! So, reluctantly I agreed AS LONG as I didn't have to move anyone on my books! Feeling pretty confident that I would most likely be full, hence my evenings go quick....to my surprise I WASN'T!! I was just booked till 1pm, perfect timing to make it to the event! Someone really wanted me to participate....UGH! So I said yes. Yesterday comes, I work my half a day then get all my stuff together, not knowing exactly what to bring. I head off to the Marshall center starting to feel a bit nervous! I had no idea what to expect, and not to be rude at all I didn't want to have to deal with any lice or anything like that. Then I hear that 3 stylists wern't going to come...OH NO! more for the ones that show up (Which was only me at that point!) by the time it started people were lined up FOREVER!! I was so nervous....and luckily 5 other stylists showed up, way to be punctual ladies (that's why stylists have such a bad wrap... :) ), and the cutting began. My first girl was about 8, had long REALLY think beautiful red hair, which hadn't seen a brush in quite a while. I felt horrible because it took forever to just brush out all the tangles which I know she wasn't enjoying. I told mom to equipped her with a comb in the shower so when there is conditioner she could comb through it....THEN IT WOULDN'T DREAD!! It was all a bit of a blur after that. One little boy, about 8 or so was quite a kick in the side, just a chatter box...and one comment that was made hit me from the out field, he said "your real pretty lady!" Shocked I laughed...then said thank you. He got pretty quiet after that and the stylist next to me was laughing for quite a while, it was rather funny. I did probably 15 or 20 cuts, and yes there was about 3 a-line bobs in there...best hair cut those little girls will get in a long time! All in all, it wasn't bad. I felt so bad for some of the children...you could tell life wasn't just peachy for all of them. One little girl told her friend that she was glad they had food here because she hadn't eaten since yesterday morning because there was no food in the house...she was about 5 or 6. There were quite a few parents who were on drugs too, you could tell. WOW! I am so grateful for my life and great family support I have. I just wanted to load up so many of these kids and take them home with me! It was quite an amazing experience and I will most defiantly do it again next year....were do I sign up??

Million bucks!!

Yes, that's how I feel!! like a million bucks :) It was the last day of the first camp I will be doing. Next one starts the 11th! I improved slightly from the beginning, I shaved 29 seconds off my mile and did 46 push ups! Granted they were girl push ups but hard core! Yes you can put your knees down but!! You have to keep your feet up in the air and your butt down so your back is straight! and you only have a minuet. Its hard...don't believe me try it yourself :) I really feel good! I am glad that I accomplished what I did and excited for the next one! We got certificates for finishing and I got a perfect attendance medal, i will post a picture! I have also made a goal for myself...I am going to run a marathon! probably next fall! its a huge goal but I should do it while I am young and it will give me something to look forward to and work hard for. Electra said she will do it with me....So the stick figure and the dough ball are stickin together for another obstacle! I also went to see Mama Mia last night with a few of my favorite people and it was GREAT!! I will have to buy it and I would recommend it to any one!
