Watercolor!

OH WHAT FUN!! I believe I have found my new love :) I took a pen and ink with watercolor class this last wednesday. I have not done much with watercolor and it slightly scared me! I have a friend who does it quite a bit and told me about this class that she was going to take. I decided it was a good thing to expand my experiences so I signed up! MAN IS IT UP MY ALLY!! I really like it, a bit of a natural too! With some good pointers and some dicapline I flew for the moon! I think this can be a really good thing....here are a few of what I did in class.

BOYCOT UNITED AIRLINES!

We recently went on a trip to Oklahoma for our friends wedding. I am going to post another thing about the wedding but I want to talk about the HELL we had getting there.....ON UNITED!!! We purchased a package deal through orbitz or hotwire, cant remember which one and got a pretty good deal for the flight, car and hotel. We were supposed to get a email about our flight stuff the week before we left but never received it. We had our confirmation number and flight #'s so we called and they said just go into the counter and use that info, it was fine. They couldn't send out that email because their computers were down because of the hurricane. We were scheduled to fly out Friday morning at 5:54am. We got there before 5am, well say about 10 til and got into line. There was probably a good 40 people in front of us and another 50 or so behind. We finally get up to the kiosk thing and put in our info. It says to pick up the phone that is next to it and talk to a person. We do and the women says that we can not get onto the flight because they have a 45 min check baggage cut off and we were 3 Min's to late for that. I get off the phone and ask to talk to someone. I go up and she says the same, that we had to have our bags checked 45 Min's before the flight time and it was to late so she was going to have to get us on standby for the next flight. So we had no choice and took that and checked our bags, which was another 30 dolor's I might add. We went through security and were tagged to go through their extra security thing were the stick a wand through all off your bags and stick u in this puffer machine that blows air at you really fast and loud!! (we all know I hate loud sounds!) then we had breakfast and waited, and waited and waited!! Luckily because we were nice to the women at the counter and didn't freak out earlier, she was the same women that was at the gate and I think she made sure we made it on! IT WAS GOOD :) We we are crammed in the middle seat squashed clear in the back for the 2 1/2hr flight. We get to Denver and we have to wait again! We are again on stand by for the next flight which left at like 2:30 I think. We eat, hang out, look around and go back to the gate to wait MORE! We didn't get on and the next flight is at 5:30, UGH! So we have to wait some more. The thing that sucked by this point is we were supposed to go to the rehearsal dinner at 7:30 and our flight wasn't scheduled to get in until that time, that's saying we make that flight. So we wait forever again and go down to the gate for this flight about an hour before. The ticket agent said that we were probably not getting onto the flight because they were 1 over and had two standby people in line before us so don't hold our breath! I asked if there was anything else we could do, maybe pay more or use another airline! She said no and there was only one more flight out tonight and that one was about 6 people over sold. I was really frustrated by now and my patience was really thin. She said that there might be a chance that we get one person on and that would be easier then two people but to wait and see what would happen. AGAIN MORE WAITING!! So we decided that if we were going to be split up that would be OK and I was going to go. Then the time came, she called for all the other passengers....then those that wernt here yet! Patiently waiting....she called again......waited more.....Then said, OK, here are your ticked stubs and ran us through the door before anyone else came!! WE WERE LUCKY! We got there OK way after our luggage did which was retarded hence the whole issue was having our bags fallow us! Our rental car went without a hitch and she felt bad that it took us so long to get there that she up grated us for free! So we call our friends who asked us if we can wait for Michelle's friend who should be there any minuet! We say yes and realize that we have to change out or our grubby cloths because our sweats would not be appropriate for the fancy dinner! In the car we are looking at all the compartments and pushing all the buttons when I look down at something at the precise moment Toby's elbow is heading upward and he gets me right in the eye!! IT HURT SO BAD and was watering uncontrollably! What a way to end our wonderful day! We did make it to the dinner, late but we made it with her friend and in one piece....barely! Any I might add, on the way back we made sure we were there extra early. We were in line 1 1/2 hours before we were scheduled to leave. They have a moronic system of checking people in and one agent said to another that most of these people wouldn't make the cut off time and we needed to move them up in line, and the other said OH Well! we barely made the cut off, about 12 Min's shy and we were practically at the front of the line so all the people (probably about 30) behind us were screwed, and I might add that the flight was rather empty hence all the people in line! Absolutely ridiculous! Moral of the story.....DON'T FLY UNITED!! and if you do GO REALLY REALLY EARLY!!

BIG FISHIE!!

So Labor day I went fishing with my dad :) It was great...we caught a total of three fish, but this is how it went down. So we got all set up, got our two chairs out and of course I grabbed a monstrous book! After a few Min's my dad went around to corner to see if they were having any luck. I was getting really into my book and really into the story when the bell started to ring...DING DING!! I immediately looked over to our neighbors to see if they were bringing in a huge honker but they were looking at me. I looked at our poles and one of them was flapping around and the tip was practically splashing in the water!! I ran down there, not really knowing what to do. I grabbed the pole, gave it a nice jerk and started reeling. This puppy was GIGANTIC and a bit of a fighter. It crossed the line of the other pole and made it jerk around and look like there were two at once. Then I see my dad sprinting from around the corner like a gazelle and close behind were the guys next door. In excited frantic movements he is yelling tips to me and looking for the net that was stuck in the door....LOL! I got it in and sadly it was a Chinook Salmon, not a keeper especially since we had an audience ;) So we watched our potential dinner swim away.....awe. Then, about an hour or so later his bell is a ringing so he runs out there, fights the stinker four about 10 or 15 Min's. The fish is jumping and fighting and dragging him from one side of the beach to the other. He gets that baby to shore and its a steelhead....YES....Oh, but it has a fin.....NOOOO! So he had to let him go to because he was a native. Then we SAT and waited forever. I think I read about a 150 pages, did 2 sudoku puzzles and peed about 5 times. We were about to call it a day when the pole started it geriatrics again. I ran down there and grabbed the pole.....THIS ONE WAS RIDICULOUSLY HUGE and a fighter too. It took what seemed like FOREVER! to reel this baby in. It seemed like just when I was making progress it would swim fast and hard away and my line would just zip and zip after it....then I was back at the beginning! The guy was jumping and whipping from side to side. I was reeling as hard as I could until my arms and wrists felt like they were going to fall off!! I got it in AND IT WAS A KEEPER!! we weighed it and my dads scale which is usually light said 20 lbs, so I like to think it was more like 22. It was really heavy holding it so I dunno. It sure made for some great dinner last night :)
